HiPipo Music Awards is connecting the whole of Africa – Zambia’s Roberto.
Zambia’s music superstar Roberto, real name Robert Banda has applauded HiPipo Music Awards for spearheading African Integration and Development through healthy music competition.
In a HiPipo Facebook Live video chat with fans from across the world, Roberto noted even though HiPipo Music Awards is a few years short of making a decade, it is nonetheless taking lead in matters African integration.
“It is always amazing to get to see talent from all across the African continent. I am really excited that HiPipo Music Awards are getting to connect everybody regardless of the corner of the continent of Africa they are. Even in the Diaspora, everybody is coming to link up in Uganda for this ‘fast growing music extravaganza’,” Roberto noted, adding;
“I am thrilled to have been nominated for HiPipo Music Awards once again in the category of best Southern Africa. I am competing with a number of great Artistes from the Southern region and will appreciate all your votes.”
The nominees for Best Song from Southern Africa are Nasty C & Runtown – Said, AKA Ft. Kiddominant – Fela In Versace, Jah Prayzah – Ronika, Ammara Brown – Akiliz, King Monada – Malwedhe (Collapse Song), Roberto Ft. Patoranking – Contolola and Cassper Nyovest – Baby Girl.
The 2019 prestigious HiPipo Music Awards are slated for 16th March at the Kampala Serena Hotel. Entry fee is UGX 100,000 for a single ticket and UGX 3,000,000 of a VIP table of 10.
Since the release of his fast single in 2006, Roberto has never looked back, outing several songs that went on to become major hits in Zambia, Uganda and across the continent. Some of his biggest songs include AmaRulah, In to You, and Swag Meter among others.
Roberto is a blood brother to another Zambian household musician – General Ozzy, with whom he has worked on several songs such as African Woman and Dreams also featuring Reekado Banks from Nigeria.
Other notable artistes that Roberto has worked with in the recent past include but not limited to Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania and Patoranking from Nigeria.
